Rapid Links

What Is a Rapid Link?

A rapid link is a zinc-plated steel connector with a threaded nut on one side. When the nut is unscrewed, it creates an opening that allows you to attach rope, sling links, thimbles, or hardware to an anchor point. Once tightened, the rapid link forms a closed steel loop.

The opening of a rapid link is approximately the same size as the stock diameter of the link itself. Because rope has flexibility, slightly oversized rope can often be maneuvered into place with patience.

Why Use Rapid Links?

Rapid links offer several advantages over permanent connectors or knots:

  • Strong and load-rated

  • Easy to install and remove

  • Adjustable without cutting rope

  • Clean and professional appearance

  • Compatible with many rope and net products

They are especially useful when you want the ability to remove, replace, or adjust an installation in the future.

Compatibility with Nets R Us Products

Rapid links are commonly used with many Nets R Us products, including:

  • Climbing and swing ropes

  • Cargo nets

  • Rope ladders

  • Firecracker ladders

  • Fidget ladders

  • Ship mast nets

Choosing the correct rapid link size is important to ensure proper fit and safe load distribution.

Rapid Links for Climbing & Swing Ropes

Our climbing and swing ropes are supplied with either a 3/8" or 1/2" pear-shaped sling link at the top.

  • These sling links fit perfectly into a 1/2" rapid link

  • The 1/2" rapid link provides a secure and easy connection point

  • Ideal for hanging ropes from beams, brackets, or overhead anchors

Rapid Link Sizes Available

We offer several commonly used rapid link sizes, each suited for different applications.

Rapid Links for Cargo Nets

Cargo nets use different size border ropes depending on the net configuration.

  • Smaller frame ropes may work with 9/16" rapid links

  • Larger frame ropes typically require 5/8" rapid links

  • While the opening may appear smaller than the rope diameter, rope flexibility allows for installation with careful maneuvering

For customers who want a simpler setup, rapid links can be installed directly onto the net during construction.

Rapid Links for Rope Ladders

Poly dacron rope ladders are constructed with 5/8" steel thimbles at the attachment points.

  • These ladders require a 5/8" rapid link

  • The larger link ensures proper fit and load distribution

As with nets, rapid links can be installed during ladder construction if requested at the time of ordering.
